Subject: Dog on black chair

Critique:

This is a very appealing picture because of the contrast between the blacks
and whites. Even though the picture is a color photo, the white dog and the
black couch give it the affect of a black and white photo. The whites in the
photo are bright and the blacks are nice and dark; perfect contrast. No
depth of field evident because of the blank white wall directly behind the
chair. No evidence of shutter speed size unless the dog was really jittery,
so the shutter speed would've been at least set to 1/800 so as to not create
a blur. If the dog was still throughout the shoot, shutter speed is
irrelevant. The lines on the floor tiles creates very effective leading
lines, which lead to the white doggy (CVI). The white background and simple
colors also create a simplicity effect around the CVI, causing the eye to go
straight to the dog.
