Extra Credit- Funny

Name these post "extra credit 1, 2, etc."

Open this file in a new window (right click > open in new window).
Save up to three funny and well composed photos.
Upload them to flicker, and post them with an explanation of their composition.

Each funny and well written post will either replace another blog entry you haven't done, or add points to your blog grade.

Posts 10-12 - Post your own examples of advanced composition

WHEN YOU ARE DONE WITH POSTS 1-9 (not before)

Choose three of the advanced techniques you learned about in posts 3-9 and shoot them.

You may shoot architecture, people, or nature (we will be learning more about nature photography soon.)

These shots may be posed/ staged.

You will shoot with a digital camera during class time and post your shots with a full explanation of how your photo shows a particular advanced technique.

Advanced techniques - Posts 3 through 9

This is a review of advanced composition techniques.

Look in the best photojournalism of 2005 and find a good example of each of the following advanced techniques.

  1. Rule of thirds
  2. Leading Lines
  3. Framing
  4. Simplicity
  5. Juxtaposition
  6. Dramatic angles
  7. Repetition

Save the photos into your folder.
Upload them into your flickr account.
Post each photo with an explanation of which technique it is an example of, and exactly how the elements create that technique.

Create your photo blog and post your first entry

Create an account on flickr.com and blogger.com

  • Name your blog “Your Name Photo Page”
  • Set up your flickr account to connect to your blog- (your account> your blogs)

Copy the URL of your blog into an email, and send it to me - mconnoll@austinisd.org. Include your name in the Email.


Find a photo that is a good examples of capturing peak of emotion or action

Post the photo and critiques

  • In flickr, go to upload and upload it
  • Select the photo in flickr and click on the "blog this" icon above the photo
  • Select your photo blog
  • For the entry title, type "Peak of Action / Emotion"
  • Under "compose your blog entry," type a 1-3 sentence explanation of what specific elements in the photo show that the photographer captured the peak of emotion or action
  • Click "post"
